The Man who Films Goats: The Ffresh keynote interview with Sergey Dvortsevoy

12.02.2010 | 16:00 | Great Hall

Speakers: Sergey Dvortsevoy & Chris Morris

You may not have encountered the work of Sergey Dvortsevoy, but once you have it will leave an indelible mark on your memory, and challenge how you think about cinema in the way it can portray and reflect life. Before making his feature debut with Tulpan, which wowed critics at Cannes 2008 and won the Un Certain Regard, he was known for his extraordinary series of documentaries, including his masterpiece In the Dark, which will screen as part of this Masterclass. The Kazakh director felt that his documentaries were turning him into 'a vampire', so as Pawel Pawlikowski notes (in a brilliant article about the director whose title we stole for this Masterclass) "he turned to fiction – and he's still a genius". Sergey Dvortsevoy will be interviewed by Chris Morris, head of the International Film School of Wales.
