Submitting Your Work to the Ffresh Awards is simple:

1. Download our submission form. Read the guidelines carefully before entering! Failure to follow the guidelines may result in your entry being disqualified from the competition.
2. Make your way to the post office.
3. That's it!

Am I eligible for the Awards?
Are you studying a moving image course in a Welsh further or higher education college or university?
If you are studying a HND, BA, BSc, MA or Postgrad diploma course in Wales then the answer is yes.

How do I enter the awards?
As a general rule your work will be submitted by your course leaders (best check!) but if you want to submit work yourself download the guidelines and submission form and send it in by the annual closing date.

Is there a fee?
No submission fee is required if you are a student from one of the following registered members of Ffresh: International Film School Wales, University of Wales, Newport; Aberystwyth University; University of Glamorgan; University of Wales, Lampeter; Swansea Metropolitan University; Glyndwr University; Trinity College, Carmarthen; Bangor University; and Coleg Llandrillo Cymru. If you are not a student from one of the aforementioned institutions you must enclose a cheque for £5 (payable to Ffresh Ltd) with your submission form.

Who will judge my work?
Relevant industry pros volunteer their time to watch all of the entries and choose the winners. The judges will also attend the event in February.


Entry Guidelines

1) All Interactive and Games entries are to be submitted on CD-ROM. If the work is also online, a link to the website is needed. All Interactive and Games work should also be PC and Apple Mac compatible.

2) All other entries for fiction/factual/TV/animation etc, must be submitted on DVD (PAL) or DV Tape. Colleges should submit entries on compilation tapes for each separate category. We cannot accept entries on Quick Time, DivX, or similar files.

3) Entries may be in English or Welsh.

4) All entries must be no longer than 30 minutes in length, with the exception of entries into the Motion Graphics category, which are to be no longer than 60 seconds in length, and the Short Shorts category, which cannot be more than 3 minutes in length.

5) All entries must have been completed within 2 years prior to the deadline (work completed before 21/09/2007 will not be accepted).

6) All entries must obtain the appropriate copyright clearances (i.e. music, images, etc). Failure to do so will result in the entry being disqualified from the competition.

7) All entries must have clear titles. If they do not appear the entry will be disqualified from the competition.

8) The majority of those involved in the production must be/have been a registered student/s in further or higher education at the time of production. Proof may be necessary in some cases.

9) A completed, signed application form and a submission fee of £5 (payable to Ffresh Ltd) must accompany all entries. No submission fee is required if you are a student from one of the following registered members of Ffresh: International Film School Wales, University of Wales, Newport; Aberystwyth University; University of Glamorgan; University of Wales, Lampeter; Swansea Metropolitan University; Glyndwˆ r University; Trinity College, Carmarthen; Coleg Llandrillo.

10) All compilation tapes must be clearly labelled with SCREENING FORMAT, CATEGORY, NAME OF INSTITUTION, RUNNING ORDER, RUNNING TIME and TIME CODES.

11) All individual entries must be clearly labelled with TITLE, SCREENING FORMAT, CATEGORY, NAME OF ENTRANT, NAME OF INSTITUTION and RUNNING TIME.

12) Ffresh holds the right to move entries between categories should they feel they are more suited to another category.

13) Shortlisted entries will be screened/demonstrated during the Festival programme.

14) Winners will be presented with their awards during the Ffresh Awards Ceremony on the evening of the 12th of February. There will be no prior notification of winners.

15) Please send an SAE if you would like your tape/CD-ROM returned.

16) Entrants agree that Ffresh may in the future submit their work to one or more of its international partner festivals.

17) The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
