Ffresh is proud of the innovation and excellence of students studying moving images courses within Colleges and Universities in Wales. The Ffresh Awards provide a unique platform to exhibit the best work being created by the up-and-coming moving image talent in Wales – don’t translate.
Below are the 11 categories of excellence, which students from around Wales could enter their work into. Submissions are now closed with the festival receiving a record number of entries. To find out who has been shortlisted for the Ffresh Awards 2009 click here.
All the shortlisted entries for the 2009 Awards will be showcased as part of next year’s programme. There will also be an award – new for 2009 – for Best International Film which will be voted for be a student jury. Ffresh Award 2009 Categories
Animation
Any animated film utilising 2D, stop motion, CGI or live action techniques or a mix of some or all techniques.
Factual
Any non-fiction production, including current affairs and documentary.
Fiction Undergraduate - *New
Any fictional production created on film, video or interactive fiction by a student(s) studying an undergraduate course. Entries must be no longer than 30 minutes in length.
Fiction Postgraduate - *New
Any fictional production created on film, video or interactive fiction by a student(s) studying a postgraduate course. Entries must be no longer than 30 minutes in length.
Games and Interactive Media - *New
Any examples of games, websites, CD-Roms, edutainment, infotainments or interactive art are accepted.
Motion Graphics
Any promotional stings, adverts, programme or channel idents are accepted. Time limit – 60 seconds. Showreels are not accepted.
Music Media
Music videos and other music related media will be considered (i.e. band websites)
Out of Sight - *New
Any fiction, factual or animation production made by a student who was born in Wales, or has lived in Wales for over three years, and is currently studying outside Wales. Entries must be no longer than 30 minutes in length.
Short Shorts
Any fictional production on film or video up to 3 minutes in length.
TV
Any production made specifically for TV, including factual entertainment, entertainment, comedy, news items, children’s programmes and studio programmes. Documentaries are not accepted.
Welsh Language
Any production that is in the Welsh language is accepted, including fiction, factual, animation and interactive media.
